Havn = Harbor

This is a pretty important word around Copenhagen with all of the water surrounding us. It’s also a confusing word. Look at the word and attempt to pronounce it. Now follow this link and listen:

I know it doesn’t make sense, but it’s Danish. If you really want to confuse yourself type Nyhavn into that translator and hear it pronounced. Google Translate doesn’t recognize Nyhavn but it means new harbor and is the name of the overly photographed area on the waterfront here. You can always tell a tourist from a Dane by listening for the different butcherings of that word on the streets of Copenhagen.
